Many types of blood cancer remain incurable and are associated with severe morbidity and increased mortality. The Swiss Cancer Institute/BMS Grant "HEM Pioneer" is funded by BMS and supports projects that can pave the way for a fundamental change in the treatment of blood cancer. The prize is endowed with CHF 20'000.–.

Applicants

  • You are a practicing physician, active in clinical research or a specialist in a care facility
  • Carry out your research activities mainly in Switzerland
  • Must finance your project via a company account

Your project

  • Aims to pave the way for a potentially groundbreaking impact in the field of hemato-oncological diseases and their precursors
  • Has a research character (e.g. clinical or translational research, research with databases/registries, work and patient care models, quality of life tools)
  • Must not be concerned with basic research
  • May focus on aspects such as treatment approaches, mode of action of drugs, type of disease, interdisciplinary communication/collaboration, etc.
  • Is carried out in Switzerland
  • Is planned or already underway

Application

Your application must:

  • Be written in English and include the following information:
  • Project title, rationale/background, aim of the project and the potential significant impact on the type of blood cancer being studied
  • Detailed description of the project with project plan and methodology including statistical methods (if applicable), timeframe/duration of the project and budget
  • CVs of all applicants

Applications that do not meet all of the above requirements cannot be considered.
