Swiss Cancer Institute strengthens access to clinical data for multi-site cancer research
For several years, the Swiss Cancer Institute has been working closely with the Swiss Personalized Health Network (SPHN) to enable the secure and standardized exchange of clinical data for research purposes. Through its successful connection to SPHN and BioMedIT, SCI makes an important contribution to advancing data-driven cancer research in Switzerland.
A key element of this collaboration is the Swiss OncoData Infrastructure (SODI). Through SODI and its interface to BioMedIT, SCI not only integrates its own data but also enables non-university hospitals and additional research partners to provide clinical cancer data in a structured, interoperable and secure manner for multi-site research projects in personalized medicine.
The development of this infrastructure required dedicated investments and substantial technical and organizational efforts. Today, SODI supports the harmonization of cancer data, its standardized provision and use in national and cross-institutional research projects, fully complying with the highest data protection and security standards.
Through this commitment, the Swiss Cancer Institute strengthens collaboration within the Swiss research landscape and helps ensure that high-quality clinical data are accessible for innovative, patient-centered cancer research.
